●HEMOX Analyzer

The HEMOX Analyzer is an automated system used to record blood oxygen equilibrium curves and related phenomena. It can operate in either association or dissociation mode and is suitable for use with fresh whole blood or hemolysates. Please note that the HEMOX Analyzer does not perform any form of blood cell processing, and all blood sample preparation must be completed before the sample is loaded into the instrument. Although recordings can be obtained with as little as 2 μL of blood, a sample volume of 30–50 μL is recommended for routine measurements. The analyzer operates on the basis of dual-wavelength spectrophotometry for measuring the optical properties of hemoglobin, together with an oxygen electrode for measuring oxygen partial pressure in mmHg. Signals generated by these two measurement systems are transmitted to an X-Y recorder or computer to produce the final curve profile.

●Structural Description

The main body of the HEMOX Analyzer is housed in a sheet-metal enclosure, with the optical and electronic components mounted on the base. The housing also contains the gas selection valve system and the sample aspiration/discharge pump system.

The front section of the instrument is equipped with the optical platform, including the light source, lens system, cuvette holder, and photomultiplier detector. The rear section contains the power supply and the electronic rack with four PC boards. A hinged access door on the top cover allows convenient sample loading as well as routine maintenance of the sample chamber and pO2 electrode.

The entire top cover is connected to the base by a hinge on the right-hand side and can be opened by removing the two nuts located at the bottom of the housing. All utility connections, including the main power supply, gas connections, and the optional cooling water connection, are located at the rear of the instrument. The main fuse (2.0 amp) is also positioned at the back. All operating controls are located on the front panel for easy access and adjustment.
